MKGN Speaker's Guide

The evening

The doors officially open at 19.30 with the talks starting at 20.00. Talks are usually all finished between 22.00 - 22.30, but people hang around to chat and have a drink until about 23.30.

The format

  • 1 x 20 minute headline talk
  • 3 x 5 minute talks
  • Various (max 10) 1 minute pitch slots
  • 1 x 20 minute headline talk

What we need from you

Your talk title: Please email us the title of your talk. Feel free to send us a synopsis too but this is less important.

A profile photo: We like to add your profile photo to our site, plus in the slidedeck for the evening, so please shoot one over in an email - higher quality the better.

A short bio/intro: Could you please email us a brief intro/bio for yourself, written in the third person. We like to keep it short and informal so 150-250 characters would be ideal.

Playing video/audio?: It's often setup by default, but if you do want to play audio/video it's good to know in advance.

Tech

LCD projector with XGA resolution (1,024 x 768).

We use "Madonna" style headset mics.

There is parking available outside the venue, which is free after 18.00.

If travelling by train to Milton Keynes Central, the venue about a 30 minute walk. If you need a taxi, we usually recommend Skyline Taxis (01908 222111).

Audio & Video

We will be recording the audio of the event and probably video too, and we'll release the audio via our site and Soundcloud in the future.

The Area - is it safe?

We've always felt that Central Milton Keynes is a safe place, and personally wouldn't worry about walking between the venue and the hotels, but if you'd rather get a taxi then just let us know and we can organise it.
